Dear Friends,

At the close of another year, we send our greetings.  We hope you have found God faithful in all that He has done in your lives.  We trust you will rejoice in Him whatever 2008 brings across your path.

We all (Julie-Ann and family, Lois, Andrew, Ellen and I) enjoyed last Christmas at La Trobe with Kelvin, Kathleen and Hannah.  Hyland was born 31 March so Ellen and I headed south again after Easter.  They have now finished the 3 units they built across the back and sold the whole complex and bought a new larger home.  They expect to call in for New Year.

Julie-Ann and Keith went to Uganda for two weeks in September so Poest, Daisy and Truli spent that time with us at Cargo. It was great to get to know them in this way.  They will spend Christmas at Canberra and call in here on the way home, briefly overlapping with Kathleen and Kelvin.

Lois decided to quit Wollongong and spent a few weeks based at Cargo before renting a house in Orange with Andrew.  The limitations of Solar Power and dialup internet were a challenge to her lifestyle. So they are now getting organised at 138 Spring St (02 6360 4835).  Andrew has not landed an IT job yet but is delivering for Eagle Boys Pizza.

Ellen has continued cleaning and assisting with food classes at Orange Christian School.  The hours changed so she has to work 3-6pm five days.  She enjoys it but suffers considerable arthritis and can’t visit the grandchildren as much as she would like.  She works hard in her gardens here at Cargo as well as supporting her friends in Orange.  She hopes to keep working another 18 months.

I had a fortnight in Kenya and South Africa teaching ASReml in May and have invitations to USA, Turkey and Argentina for 2008.

The drought knocked out olives around.  There were only 5 olives to pick last Easter and 50 trees died back.  However, good rains in June and since October have allowed most to reshoot.  We’ve now had over 600mm for the year, an average figure (compared with 300mm last calendar year).

We continue to be involved with Orange (http://www.orangeassembly.com.au) Christian Assembly. Three older believers have graduated to glory this year.  We will see them again anon.  We are reaching out to a new family through the Sunday School while other long term contacts have moved on.  We thank the Lord for the fellowship we enjoy and the privilege of serving in His Name.

I am continuing with the daily Rhema broadcasts, now in the 11th year and fourth cycle through the Scriptures.  This round I am spending more time improving the quality of the recording (editing out the bloopers).

We got another car, a 2001 Hyundai Elantra because of the high mileage we do (39000 km pa) but kept the Holden as a backup.

We wish you all the best to 2008 hoping you will walk by the Spirit, glorifying the Lord Jesus as you wait for Him to deliver us from this present evil age.

With Love
